Stay Well program

For more than 25 years, St. Joe’s trusted Stay Well program has helped participants maintain their health, mobility, independence and quality of life through safe, supported exercise.

St. Mary's Health is pleased to bring this trusted program to the Kitchener-Waterloo community through a new six-week pilot. 

The Stay Well program is a group-based physical maintenance program designed to help individuals maintain or improve mobility and physical function while managing chronic disease. Led by regulated health professionals, each session includes guided physical activity and education on weekly topics that support participants' overall health and wellbeing.

The Stay Well pilot program runs every Friday from October 16 to November 20, 2026.

​

Participants attend one one-hour class each week and may select from the following class times: 

  • 9-10 a.m.  

  • 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. 

  • 1-2 p.m. 

  • 2:30-3:30 p.m. 

​

What to expect

Each week focuses on a different aspect of health, exercise and independent living. 

​

Week 1: Cardiovascular endurance and finding the right exercise zone 

​Week 2: Muscular strength and flexibility 

Week 3: Balance, coordination and vestibular training 

Week 4: Nutrition, falls prevention and getting up safely after a fall 

Week 5: Muscular strength and flexibility 

Week 6: Balance, coordination and vestibular training

Program cost 

The program is $108 for the full six-week program. 

​

The cost may be eligible as a medical expense and may be covered through individual insurance plans. 

​

A physician referral and completed medical clearance form are required before participating in the stay well program.
